Why this page exists

Tellersonne stands on the shoulders of others: on an official nutrient database, on free fonts and icons, on photos under free licences and on a great deal of open-source software. This page sets out what we use and on what terms. Anyone who wants to reuse content from Tellersonne will also find here what belongs to us.

Nutritional data: Bundeslebensmittelschluessel 4.0

The nutritional values in our recipes are based on the German nutrient database Bundeslebensmittelschluessel (BLS), version 4.0. Citation: Max Rubner-Institut (2025): Bundeslebensmittelschlüssel (BLS), Version 4.0, DOI 10.25826/Data20251217-134202-0. The data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0); the licence text is published by Creative Commons. We have modified the data: we pick the entries that match an ingredient, convert the values per 100 grams to the quantities and servings of the recipe and round the result. The values are therefore guide figures. The Max Rubner-Institut does not endorse Tellersonne and does not stand behind our recipes.

Photos from Wikimedia Commons

Some sample photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are licensed under Creative Commons licences (CC BY 2.0 and 4.0 as well as CC BY-SA 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0). For each of these images we show the credit directly at the image with the title, the author, the source and the licence; where we cropped or resized an image, that is stated as well. Images under a share-alike licence are passed on in their edited form under the same licence. The authors do not endorse Tellersonne and have nothing to do with our recipes. These photos are placeholders; we are gradually replacing them with our own pictures from test cooking.

Fonts

We use the type families Newsreader and Atkinson Hyperlegible Next. Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and may be embedded and passed on; we make the full licence text available on the licences page at https://tellersonne.app/en/licenses. Atkinson Hyperlegible Next was designed to keep letters distinguishable for people with low vision, which is why we use it for body text.

Icons

The icons in the app and on the web come from the Material Symbols set and are licensed under the Apache License 2.0. We make the licence text and the required notices available on the licences page at https://tellersonne.app/en/licenses.

Open-source software

Tellersonne uses a great many open-source libraries, among others under the MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD and ISC licences. The complete, machine-generated list of all dependencies with name, version, licence and copyright notice is available in the app under Profile, Legal, Open-source licences and on the web at https://tellersonne.app/en/licenses. The list is regenerated with every release so that it matches the shipped build. If you find a licence or a copyright notice missing, write to legal@tellersonne.app and we will add it.

Third-party trade marks

Third-party names and trade marks mentioned here - for example those of operating systems, stores, kitchen appliances or foods - belong to their respective owners. We name them descriptively only, for instance to identify a device or an ingredient. This implies no connection with those companies and no endorsement by them.

Store badges of Apple and Google

We use the "Download on the App Store" and "Get it on Google Play" badges in the official, unmodified form required by the respective marketing guidelines, and solely to link to the app. Apple, the Apple logo and App Store are trade marks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Google Play and the Google Play logo are trade marks of Google LLC. Neither company publishes or sponsors Tellersonne.

Our own content

The name Tellersonne, our logo, the design of the app and the web pages, our recipe texts, photos, videos and the source code are protected. The rights in them are held by Tim Hauke. You may use, print and pass on recipes for yourself, your family and your friends. Commercial use, publication and the systematic copying of larger amounts require our permission. What you post to the community yourself stays yours; what you allow us to do with it is set out in our terms of use: https://tellersonne.app/en/terms.

AI drafts and copyright

We draft some of our recipe texts with the help of artificial intelligence; the details are in the AI transparency notice at https://tellersonne.app/en/ai-transparency. What a machine alone produced is not a personal intellectual creation under German law and is therefore not protected by copyright. What is protected is what people make of it: the selection, the rewriting, the test cooking, the allergen check, the photography and the design. For the recipes you see here, the section "Our own content" therefore applies.

Contributions from the community

Comments, ratings and cooked photos come from the people who wrote or took them. They are marked with the display name at the place where they appear and may not be reused without the permission of their author.

Reporting a mistake

We take care to credit every source correctly. If you notice a missing credit, an incorrect licence statement or an unauthorised use, please write to legal@tellersonne.app. We look into it promptly and either correct the credit or remove the content.

Changes to these credits

We update this page when we change data sources, fonts, icons or libraries. Every version carries a version number and a date, and earlier versions remain visible in the version history.

Open-source libraries

These packages ship with Tellersonne. The list is generated from the dependencies, so it matches the published build.
