Community guidelines

Language and status
The German version of these guidelines is the legally binding one. This English version is a convenience translation. Version 2.2, effective from 18 September 2026.
What this is about
In Tellersonne you rate recipes, write comments and show your cooked photos. These guidelines tell you what is welcome in the community, what is not, and what happens if someone does not stick to them. They are part of the terms of use at https://tellersonne.app/en/terms.
This is welcome
- Honest experiences: what worked, what did not, what would you do differently? - Helpful tips about ingredients, quantities, timings and variations. - Photos of dishes you cooked yourself - even when they do not look perfect. - Questions to other people who have already cooked the recipe. - Fair criticism of a recipe.
This is not allowed
- Insults, threats, harassment and personal attacks. - Hate and contempt because of origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or belief. - Sexual and pornographic content, nudity. - Depictions of violence, cruelty to animals and graphic images. - Spam, chain posts, the same comment over and over. - Advertising: links to shops, discount codes, self-promotion, paid recommendations. - Personal data of other people: names, addresses, phone numbers, screenshots of private messages. - Photos in which other people are recognisable, without their consent. - Photos that have nothing to do with food. - Images and texts of others that you hold no rights to. - False or dangerous claims about food safety, for example that raw poultry is harmless or that spoiled food can still be eaten. - Anything that breaks the law.
Photos show your dish
A cooked photo shows what you cooked. A caption and an image description help other people and make the app accessible - write down briefly what can be seen. We resize your photos automatically and remove the metadata in the process, such as the place where the picture was taken.
How we review
Every new comment passes a rule-based pre-filter that catches obvious advertising and insults. Every uploaded photo is additionally checked by automatic image recognition before it becomes visible to others; until the check is done, only you can see your photo. In addition, anyone can report contributions - without an account too, through the public notice form at https://tellersonne.app/en/dsa. Whenever a result is unclear or a contribution is reported, a person from our team decides. We never remove anything permanently on automation alone.
Automatic translation
So that everyone can understand each other, we may translate comments, captions and image descriptions automatically into the reader's language. Translated texts are marked as translations, and the original can be shown at any time. Translations can contain mistakes; a contribution is always judged by its original.
Possible measures
- We hide a contribution temporarily until a person has reviewed it. - We remove a contribution or reject a photo. - We give you a warning. - We suspend commenting for a limited time. - We lock the account, permanently in the case of serious or repeated violations. Which measure we choose depends on how serious the violation is, whether it is repeated and whether it was deliberate. If we suspect a criminal offence that endangers life or safety, we inform the competent authorities.
Rating
Stars are for a recipe, not for people. Exactly one rating per account and recipe counts, and you can change it at any time. We remove ratings that are visibly bought, traded or arranged. We do not remove negative ratings as long as they do not break these rules. We do not verify that you actually cooked a recipe - so please only rate what you tried yourself.
You always get a statement of reasons
We explain every measure in a message in the app: what we did, which contribution it concerns, why, whether an automated check was involved, which rule or legal ground it is based on, and how long the measure lasts. The message also tells you how to challenge it. We send the same statement of reasons to your confirmed e-mail address as well, so that it reaches you even when your account is locked and you cannot sign in.
Objection and complaint
Do you think our decision was wrong? Then object within six months - free of charge, straight from the message or by e-mail to abuse@tellersonne.app. Your complaint is reviewed by a person who was not involved in the first decision. If we agree with you, we restore the contribution or lift the measure. If the decision stands, you can turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 DSA or go to court. More about this at https://tellersonne.app/en/dsa.
Blocking
If someone bothers you, you do not have to wait for our decision: block the person directly on their contribution. After that you no longer see their comments and photos. Their own view stays unchanged so that the block remains hidden, but the two of you can no longer reply to, like or report each other. The blocked person is not told about it. You manage blocks in the app under Profile → Blocked accounts and can lift them at any time. Blocking does not replace reporting: if a contribution breaks these guidelines, please report it as well so that we can act.
Reporting
In the app you report a contribution with the report button next to it and pick a reason. Without an account you use the public notice form at https://tellersonne.app/en/dsa. You receive a confirmation of receipt and learn what we decided. Where content points to a criminal offence that endangers life or safety, we also involve the competent authorities.
When reporting or complaining is misused
Please only report what really breaks the rules. Anyone who submits manifestly unfounded notices or complaints in series, or repeatedly publishes manifestly illegal content, is warned by us first. If that does not help, we suspend commenting for a limited time or - in serious or repeated cases - lock the account; while an account is locked it cannot report from the app. A person decides on each of these measures, not an automatic counter: we look at how many items are affected, how serious the misuse is and whether it was deliberate. You receive a statement of reasons for such a measure too and can lodge a complaint against it.
If you need help
We answer questions about these guidelines and about decisions of our team at abuse@tellersonne.app. For everything else, support@tellersonne.app or the help section in the app at https://tellersonne.app/en/help is the right address.
