Terms of use
The German version is legally binding. This English version is a translation provided for information.
Language and status
The German version of these terms of use is the legally binding one. This English version is a convenience translation. Version 3.1, effective from 18 September 2026.
The main points in plain language
You may use Tellersonne from the age of 16. Reading, cooking and planning recipes costs nothing. If you comment or show a photo, rules apply: stay friendly, no advertising, no insults, only your own photos of your own food. Photos are checked by a computer first, and a person always decides in the end. If we remove or block something, we tell you why - and you can complain about it. Your contributions stay yours. You can delete your account at any time. The complete rules are in the sections that follow; those are the ones that count legally.
Who we are and what these terms cover
Tim Hauke (sole proprietorship), Albert-Schweitzer-Ring, 25524 Itzehoe, Deutschland, operates Tellersonne. These terms of use apply between us and you for the app, the guest mode, the public recipe pages at https://tellersonne.app/ and all related features. Our full provider details are in the legal notice at https://tellersonne.app/en/imprint; how we handle your data is explained in the privacy policy at https://tellersonne.app/en/privacy.
What Tellersonne offers
We show you curated recipes that are test-cooked before publication and help you answer the question of what to cook today. On top of that come search and filters, the cook mode with timers, the weekly planner, the shopping list, a shared household with live sync, and the community with ratings, comments and cooked photos. All core features are free at launch. Whatever is free today stays free.
Account, minimum age and guest mode
Without an account you can browse, cook, plan and keep your shopping list in guest mode - everything stays on your device. For the community, households and syncing between devices you need an account. You must be at least 16 years old and confirm this when you sign up. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we lock and delete it. Your account is personal: do not pass on your credentials, and tell us if someone else had access.
Your obligations
- Comply with applicable law and with the community guidelines at https://tellersonne.app/en/community-guidelines. - Upload only content you hold the necessary rights to. - Do not attack the technical side of Tellersonne: no automated scraping, no circumventing limits or security measures, no overloading. - Do not use the app to distribute advertising or to harass other people. - Do not give false information about yourself or your age when signing up.
Your content stays yours
You keep all rights to your comments, ratings, cooked photos, captions and image descriptions. So that we can display them at all, you grant us a simple, non-exclusive and free right of use. It only allows us to store your contribution in connection with Tellersonne, to process it technically (for example to resize images, remove metadata or translate texts automatically) and to show it in the app and on the public recipe pages. The right ends when you delete the contribution or your account; only technical backup copies may still contain it for a short while. We do not sell your contributions and do not pass them on to third parties for advertising.
Rules for contributions
Everything you publish is subject to the community guidelines at https://tellersonne.app/en/community-guidelines. In short: stay friendly, no advertising, no insults, no content that endangers others, and photos show your own dish. You must hold the rights to your photos. You may not upload other people's images, images from the internet, or pictures of other people without their consent.
Ratings, search and order
Only people who are signed in can give a star rating; exactly one rating per account and recipe counts, and you can change it at any time. We do not buy, commission, alter or suppress ratings, and we never hide negative ones. We do not, however, verify that somebody really cooked a recipe; the average shown therefore rests solely on the fact that each rating comes from exactly one signed-in account. The order in search is determined by matches in the title, the ingredients and the tags and by the sorting you choose (relevance, newest, quickest, popular, rating); in an ingredient search, recipes with fewer missing ingredients come first. The suggestions under "For you" are based on your profile settings, the recipes you saved most recently and what you cooked last; in the app, "Why?" shows you which rules currently apply. There are no paid placements.
No advertising
We show no advertising in Tellersonne, sell no data and pay nobody for ratings or recommendations. Should we add paid recommendations or affiliate links later, we will label them as advertising right at the link and adapt these terms and our store texts beforehand.
Blocking and reporting
You can block other accounts. After that you no longer see their comments and photos, and they no longer see yours. We do not tell the blocked person about it, and you can undo a block at any time. Independently of that, you can report any contribution - in the app directly on the item, and without an account through the public notice form at https://tellersonne.app/en/dsa. Every report is confirmed and reviewed.
Moderation, statement of reasons and complaints
We check contributions with a rule-based pre-filter and photos additionally with an automatic image review. Flagged contributions are temporarily visible only to you until a person has decided. The final decision is always made by a human. If we hide or remove a contribution, restrict commenting or lock an account, you receive a statement of reasons: what we did, why, whether an automated check was involved, which rule or legal ground we rely on, and how you can challenge it. You can lodge a complaint against every decision free of charge within six months; it is reviewed by a person. Beyond that, you may turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 DSA, and the courts are open to you in any case. The details are at https://tellersonne.app/en/dsa.
AI, automatic review and translation
We draft some of our recipe texts with the help of artificial intelligence. Every recipe is reviewed by our editors and test-cooked before it appears. We do not currently use AI-generated images or videos; if we do, we label them visibly. We may translate community contributions automatically into the reader's language; such texts are marked as translations and the original stays available. Machine translations can contain mistakes. Photos are checked by automatic image recognition before they are published. What we use and where its limits are is described at https://tellersonne.app/en/ai-transparency.
Recipes, nutrition values and allergens
Tellersonne is a cooking app, not medical or dietary advice. Nutrition values are guide values per portion based on the German Nutrient Database (BLS); the actual values depend on your products, quantities and preparation. Allergen information comes from our ingredient database and never replaces a look at the packaging of the products you use. If you are allergic to something or have a medical condition, check every ingredient yourself and ask a doctor when in doubt. Follow the hygiene and cooking instructions in the recipes, especially for meat, fish, eggs and raw ingredients. You can report a mistake in a recipe directly on the recipe; we correct it quickly. Tellersonne is not a food business: we neither produce nor place food on the market, so our information is not labelling under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on food information to consumers. We still follow its rules for the 14 allergens and for the order of the nutrition values because that is the familiar standard. Tellersonne is also not a medical device within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2017/745: the allergy filter and the nutrition display serve everyday life and meal planning, not the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring or treatment of a disease. We offer no therapeutic diet plans and promise no health effect.
Availability, maintenance and changes to the service
We do our best to keep Tellersonne running around the clock, but we cannot guarantee it: maintenance, problems at service providers and force majeure can cause interruptions. We announce planned maintenance in the app where possible. We provide the updates required to keep the service in conformity with the contract, including security updates; you need to keep the app up to date. We may develop, change or discontinue features. If a change goes beyond what is necessary for conformity with the contract, we comply with the conditions of § 327r BGB (German Civil Code), inform you in good time and point out your right to terminate. We provide updates and security updates for the current store version of the app for as long as we offer Tellersonne, but for at least two years from the release of a version; very old app versions are asked to update through a minimum version. You can take your own content with you at any time - recipes, collections, plans, lists, notes and your contributions - through the data export in the app, in a common machine-readable format (§ 327p BGB), including during the 14 days after a deletion request; the export is free.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and where we have given a guarantee. For simple negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation - an obligation whose fulfilment makes using Tellersonne possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely. In that case liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Any further liability is excluded. These rules also apply to our legal representatives and to the people we use to perform the contract. For contributions by other users we are liable under §§ 7 to 10 DDG and Article 6 DSA only once we have knowledge of them.
Tellersonne Plus
Tellersonne Plus is prepared but cannot be bought yet: at the moment all features are free and there is no purchase option in the app. The following rules apply as soon as we switch Plus on - they are already stated here so that you know them beforehand. The planned prices are €4.99 per month or €39.99 per year, each including value added tax, with a free trial of 7 days. In the stores the products are called "tellersonne_plus_monthly_eur" (one month) and "tellersonne_plus_yearly_eur" (one year), so the initial term is one year at most. What counts is the price your store shows you before the purchase - it includes value added tax and can differ in other countries and currencies. Plus changes nothing about the free core features.
Purchase and billing through the App Store and Google Play
You buy Plus in Apple's App Store or on Google Play. The respective store is then your contracting partner for purchase, billing and refunds, and its terms apply in addition. The subscription renews automatically for the booked period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in the subscription settings of your store; in the app, "Manage subscription" takes you straight there. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, otherwise the store renews once more. A running trial ends if you buy a subscription earlier or cancel it.
Price changes
We may change prices for future billing periods, for example when our costs or taxes rise. We announce a change at least 30 days in advance in the app and by e-mail. Apple and Google inform you in addition and, where their rules require it, ask for your consent. If you do not consent, the subscription ends at the end of the current period.
Cancelling on the website
As long as Plus is available only through the app stores, cancellation runs through the respective store. As soon as we offer Plus directly on https://tellersonne.app/, you will find a clearly visible cancellation button there as required by § 312k BGB, with a confirmation page and a confirmation of receipt, as well as a withdrawal function under § 356a BGB. Independently of that, you can delete your account at any time at https://tellersonne.app/en/delete-account.
Right of withdrawal
As a consumer you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for contracts about digital content and digital services. It expires early if we begin performance at your express request before the period ends and you confirm that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (§ 356 (4) and (5) BGB). For purchases in the App Store or on Google Play, the stores carry out this step during the purchase and additionally apply their own refund rules. The full withdrawal instructions and the model withdrawal form are at https://tellersonne.app/en/withdrawal.
Changes to these terms of use
We may change these terms if there is good reason: changed law or new case law, new or discontinued features, security requirements or app store rules. We announce material changes at least 30 days in advance in the app and ask for renewed consent the next time you open it. You may object; the contract then ends and you can delete your account. Until the change takes effect, the previous terms apply. Earlier versions and the change notes are in the app under Profile → Legal.
Term, termination and deletion
The free usage contract runs for an indefinite period. You can end it at any time without notice by deleting your account - in the app under Profile → Account or at https://tellersonne.app/en/delete-account. After you request deletion, your data stays stored for another 14 days so that you can change your mind; after that we delete it permanently. Your public contributions remain in anonymised form. Deleting your account does not automatically end a running Plus subscription: cancel it in your store as well. We may terminate the contract with 30 days' notice, and without notice in the case of serious or repeated violations - always with a statement of reasons and with the redress path from the section "Moderation, statement of reasons and complaints".
Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If your habitual residence is in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country remain unaffected (Article 6 of the Rome I Regulation). As a consumer you may also bring proceedings at your place of residence.
Final provisions
If a provision of these terms of use is or becomes invalid, the rest remains valid. The statutory rule takes the place of the invalid provision. We may transfer our rights and obligations under this contract to another company if we inform you at least 30 days in advance and you can end the contract within that time.
